Using Your Old Tracked Tags in Tumblr’s New Search is Easy
Most folks know by now that typing a term in the tag format like #tumblr into the search box brings you to the new Search Results page.
Some folks like this new approach, others don’t.
You can manually modify the URL to get back to how it used to display tag results using this syntax: tumblr.com/tagged/tagname.
There’s an easier way. Lots of folks don’t realize that their beloved Tracked Tags will work and display exactly how they used to—no manual intervention required.
Awesome! How do I do it?
Click on any of your Tracked Tags and the results will appear in a new tab in the old school format rather than on the new Search Results page.
Your Tracked Tags display when you click in the search box or if you press the tab key when on the Dashboard. Just click on the one you want to trigger its search.
Here’s how to add new tracked tags when you’re on a Tracked Tags results page.
You can add new Tracked Tags form the new Search Results page too (check the bottom of this page).
How do you add a new Tracked Tag on old school Search Pages?
1. Enter the new tag you want to track in the address bar in this format and search for it:
In this case we’ll add tumby: www.tumblr.com/tagged/tumby
2. Notice that the #tumby appears in the top-right.
Track this tag displays underneath the new tag you added. Click that and you’re done.
You just added the new tag to your tracked tag list that appears when you click on the search box. You’ll need to refresh the page at least once to see it.
That’s why we made tumbyTagSearcher.

—
tumbyTagSearcher does *not* disable, modify, interfere with, or do anything else to Tumblr’s new native search functionality. What it does do is allow you to choose and enjoy whichever method you like best—or fits the best—for your search.
See the survey we did that triggered its creation.
