Our “Corruption, Originally” site has a search engine — thanks to Tumby.me
Big thanks to Tumby.me for building a search engine for our “Corruption, Originally” site — remember, the Tumblr site with all the framing references to the term “corruption,” which establishes at a minimum that the Framers meant more by “corruption” than “quid pro quo” corruption. I’m grateful for the pro bono help, and excited about the technology.

Tune in to TV on Tumblr
Television: it brings us together, it melts our brains, it makes us scream about spoilers. And we do all of this and more on Tumblr. In the past month alone, there have been 183.6k posts and 5.5 million notes about TV on Tumblr, from 2.3 million Tumblr users. That’s a huge community of television fans, though it is smaller than the film community on Tumblr.
Posts about TV average nearly 30 notes per post, which just behind the architecture, movie and science communities. And if you’re wondering which tag you should use, the #TV tag is used more often than #television in original posts, but #television got more activity overall when you add in reblogs and likes.
So what shows are people talking about on Tumblr this summer? According to the tags, it’s The Daily Show and Doctor Who:
You can also see The Daily Show’s popularity in the top ten posts - three of them are GIF-sets from the show and all come from Tumblr user sandandglass, one of the top contributors to the TV discussion on Tumblr overall. The top posts include GIFs about recent current events, including the royal baby and the George Zimmerman trial, both very significant TV events in the month of July. And Doctor Who may not be on the air right now, but it’s one of the most popular topics on Tumblr and they recently announced a major cast change.
In addition to The Daily Show and Doctor Who, other popular shows include Gordon Ramey’s Kitchen Nightmares, Jimmy Neutron, The Office , Hot in Cleveland, Breaking Bad and a beautiful portrait of Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation, done in his favorite medium - bacon and eggs.
We’ll keep an eye on these tags and see how the trending shows change as the fall TV season starts in a few weeks.
As for the most popular official show and network blogs, it looks like Comedy Central, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Doctor Who, and Hannibal took those honors this month.
Finally, #gif is the second most popular tag in the Tumblr TV conversation. TV lends itself so well to GIFing (both live and after-the-fact) interesting, funny or unexpected moments, so the fact that photo posts dominate TV content won’t surprise anyone. But there are a respectable number of both text and video posts, as well. Lots of reviews, reactions and clips.
We have a lot more to say about TV and Tumblr, so we’ll post more on this soon. But for now, we want to know - how do you talk about television on Tumblr?
